The course teaches and explicit, interactive, diagnostic, sequential, integrated, multisensory method of teaching reading and writing so students read fluently, draw on a rich vocabulary, understand the structure of the language, and become skilled readers and writers.
This course expands participants’ knowledge of scientifically-based language arts content and methodology. The content includes phonemic awareness, systematic phonics, vocabulary, word analysis, sentence construction, and text structure.
It also introduces specific methodology for teaching composition, text comprehension, and literary appreciation.
